Dental Hygiene and Checkups

Brushing and flossing are the foundation of good oral health. However, regular visits to your dental hygienist are needed to ensure that your teeth and gums stay in tip top shape Your hygiene appointment usually lasts around 45 minutes. At the appointment your hygienist will clean your teeth. Afterward, Dr. Pasha will thoroughly examine your mouth, looking for cavities, oral lesions and other problems. If he finds anything he may recommend additional treatments. At the very least, Dr. Pasha recommends twice-yearly cleanings.

Preventative Hygiene Treatment

At the root of your oral health is the periodontal exam, which includes measuring the pocket depths of your gums. This exam determines the recession and mobility of your teeth, which in turn indicates potential for bacteria accumulation.

Treating your gums involves removing, or scaling, bacteria from the crown of your teeth or the root surfaces (root planing). Depending on the shape of your gyms, treatment intervals range from 3 to 9 months. This treatment, paired with regular hygiene appointments and proper home care, will ensure that your mouth stays health and happy.
